This morning our 10 am service was sung Eucharist, and the celebrant was Father Stephen. As we continue the journey through Epiphany to day our readings were from St Paul's letter to the Corinthians and St Matthews Gospel. In the sermon father Stephen told us about the predictions for the Messiah in the Old Testament, particularly in Isiah chapter 61 and how Jesus fulfilled these predictions, particularly the fulfilment of the Jewish Jubilee Year, when all debts are cancelled. In his death in the cross and resurrection Jesus cancels out all our debts of sin.
The Choir sang 'Teach Me Oh Lord' by Thomas Attwood (1765 to 1838) as the Anthem. There was coffee after the service
