Another month, and our 10 am service was the family service. We marked today the Dedication of our Church. The exact date is not known, although the dedication probably occurred in 1200, so we take the first Sunday in September as the day we celebrate. The Choir and the Sunday School have not yet reconvened, so there was no anthem, and the presentation was given by Mrs Field and also some of the children who were there. We were given some characteristics of a healthy church which were held up on papers by the children. Mrs Field had asked the members of the PCC for a single word to describe our Church. The congregation helped match these words to the concepts of a living church . We were pleased to find we had covered all the categories, but non the less some categories were a bit thin! A good guide to our direction for the next 800 years!!!
There was coffee after the service.
We had very exciting news at our service. The diocese of Chichester has instigated a new award the St Richard's medal. This is to be awarded for outstanding contributions to the Parishes. Imagine our pleasure and delight to discover that one of the first awards is to be to Mrs Chris Field! Many many congratulations to Chris, a most deserved award!!
Tickets are now on sale for the Harvest Supper on the 27th of September do come along! Supper and entertainments for all.
